Is Jennie Elizabeth an eco-friendly florist?

I’m passionate about striving to be an eco-friendly florist.

The floral industry is currently flooded with chemically-sprayed flowers imported from overseas. Jennie Elizabeth is part of a small but growing trend offering customers seasonal, locally-grown, pesticide-free, more eco-friendly flowers. Better for your health, and better for the environment!

I work extensively with local flower farmers, Glenbernie Family Farm: a family-owned, popular weekend destination just an hour out of Sydney, famous for its sunflower fields.

John and Marika deliver their flowers to my door, where we transfer them straight from their buckets to mine. No plastic wrapping involved!

I don’t use any floral foam in my designs, and my bouquets arrive in your hands wrapped in natural hessian. To reduce waste, Jennie Elizabeth’s bouquets are only available by weekly or monthly subscription.

Flowers are precious. They take months of hard work to grow. Cheap, imported flowers are grown by people in developing countries who aren’t paid nearly enough. It takes huge amounts of fossil fuel to bring these flowers to Australia. When they arrive, they’re doused in toxic chemicals to ensure overseas diseases and pests don’t arrive with them. There’s nothing natural about these out-of-season, chemically-sprayed flowers.

It may cost you a little extra, but it’s worth it to support Australian growers and florists as we shift to a more natural, eco-friendly floristry.
